I agree with you - it seems to me like she just can't let go and she's using everything she can to get peoples attention, and most importantly his with the best/worst thing she can - cancer. It would enable her to have more control over the situation which is obviously what she wants. If you dont' want to take care of her, just say so, I doubt shell understand but its honestly you're choice and if you're so unsure its cancer (which it proably/hopefully isn't) then you certainly shouldn't feel guilty, she'll get over it quickly. It just seems very convenient she's had all of these illnesses during this time and if it really was cancer, she'd be behaving a lot more differently and the papers would have said because its more than a normal hysterectomy so it'd say. You're definitely not being insensitive or irrational - you're being smart and seeing through it :]
