Price range for a really good contract killer?

I am writing a fiction story where someone hires a hit man, and I'm not sure how much it costs, on average, to put a hit on someone? It's San Francisco, and the killers are well known in the underworld for their efficiency and tidy killings, so they'd probably be more expensive.
