How do i know if my cat has rabies?

she goes outside a lot. then when she started misbehaving we decided to only let her out at night and after everyone has gone to work because theres less traffic. first she started sleeping alot. now i just noticed a bite on her arm thats swollen. shes not acting crazy or drooling. she was walking with a slight limp the other day but not her bitten leg and that seemed to have gone away over night. but im worried cause she sleeps alot now. she hasnt bitten anyone and seems to still want to be loved and shes still eating and drinking water regulary. ive read wikapedia for facts on rabies but i still dont fully understand what i should be looking for. i cant afford to take her to the doctor right now but ive made an appt for the first of the month when i can afford it. help please. i love my kitty.
