I am on the yasmin pill and plan to skip my period, should i take a pregnancy test to b sure im not pregnant?

im current taking yasmin and i was told that i can skip my period by not takin the white pills and just contiouning with the next pack. but i dont use any other form of protection so i would want to be sure im not taking the pill while im pregnant. so my question is that is it a good idea to test or will it not show because of the pill
