What is shelf life of unopened chicken broth?

Just put all ingredients in crock pot for soup and looked at carton of chicken broth and the "Best to use Before" date is 11-20-2009 and now it is 12-30-09! Just bought this at Target yesterday. Do I need to throw out the soup and start again, or is the broth still good?
